NEW! SAGE Brochure 2007-2008

Dear SAGE Advisers:

I hope this message finds you doing well.

There is much news to report for SAGE. Here is a short list of highlights.

1. Kenya, Singapore and Tanzania have all joined our GLOBALSAGE network, with Canada about to join.

2. Thailand, Germany, UAE and France are the most recent countries to express interest. Either Charles Toney or I will be traveling to Thailand at the end of March to present at a UN conference on youth development.

3. SAGE Russia is expanding to the St. Petersburg area this fall.

4. We expect 20 California high schools to compete in SAGE this spring. If you live in CA, write down April 26. We want you to judge in Sacramento!

5. Our California SAGE “staff” consists of about 15-16 outstanding Chico State students who are now making plans to visit their assigned high schools.

6. We expect 9 or 10 US states to compete at SAGE USA this spring. If you live in the US, write down May 23 and 24 for Cincinnati, Ohio. SAGE Adviser Rieva Lesonsky has assigned a reporter to cover the event, and we hope to get a big feature article in Entrepreneur Magazine over the summer!

7. The SAGE World Cup is set for July 21-28 in Abuja, Nigeria. Write down the dates and join us!

8. SAGEGLOBAL has incorporated as a non-profit in the state of California, and the IRS has assigned us an employer ID number. We are now in the process of filing for IRS tax-exempt status as a 501 c 3 entity.

9. I will be traveling to Nigeria on November 9-19 to meet with senior government and business leaders as we prepare for the World Cup in July, 2008.

10. On November 20-25, I will be traveling to France to meet with SAGE global adviser, Jean-François de Lavision, and the SAGE Select Council. The goal is to enlist at least five individuals or companies to become the first SAGE Select Council members.

11. Check out the new “What is SAGE?” Brochure attached.

12. One of our new CAL SAGE teams is the Tiger Woods Learning Center in Anaheim. Their Director, Kathy Bihr, asked me to write some “Teen Entrepreneurship Boot Camp” lessons for her students over the summer. SAGE COO, Rob Best, has been hired to co-teach the lessons at the learning center. Currently, they are halfway through.

Take care, everyone. Thanks for your continued SAGE advice and support.

Sincerely,

Curt

SAGE World Cup 2007

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

Dear SAGE Friends,

Greetings from Tula, Russia!

Today, along with Russia SAGE Coordinators, Irina Dannikova and Sergei, we depart for Kiev, Ukraine, and then on to Odessa tomorrow.

The stage is set for the Fifth Annual SAGE World Cup. Ten countries are represented: Brazil, China, Philippines, USA, Ukraine, Russia, South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa. Congratulations to each country coordinator for working so hard this year to reach this point. And a special thanks to Viktorija and Olga, of Ukraine SAGE, for working so hard to put this world-class event together.

To those of you who are traveling, or currently en route, to Odessa, please have a safe journey. Traveling to a new country with different languages, customs, food, etc. is both rewarding and challenging.

Some of you may be asking what I am doing in Russia? :) This past week I have been meeting with business, government and education officials to help expand Russia SAGE next year. Also, I have actually visited two high school SAGE teams, one of which will represent Russia in Odessa.

If you are interested in learning more about my Russia SAGE experience, I have included a short note that I sent to my family earlier today (see below).

Have a great day!

Curt

Welcome to the all new SAGE blog!

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

Hello everyone and welcome!

As you now know, SAGE has launched it’s new website! We discovered that there was a problem with communication between the SAGE staff and SAGE participants so we decided to launch two new communication methods to it’s online presence: a blog and a forum. The blog is a one-way communication method where we will post announcements and ideas that we believe will help the SAGE community as a whole. The forum is a two-way communication method where questions can be answered, general conversation can commence, and team networking can take place. Please register at both the blog (this webpage) and the forum (www.sageglobal.org/forum).

Even though school is now out of session I hope everyone is thinking of ideas for their projects next year! I look forward to our continuing and now often communication.

Cheers!
